Ministry of Health Partners NLC On Free Medical Outreach To Workers To Mark 2025 International Labour Day
By Chris Chikelue
The Ministry of Health Anambra State is synergizing with the State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the wake of the 2025 Workers day Celebration Free Medical Outreach which has been billed to hold at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka on May 1.
The synergy was created by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike while addressing the Free Medical Outreach Committee led by its Chairman who is also the Chairman, Anambra State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu.
The commissioner introduced the group aptly to the ‘Nonye Soludo Health Outreach’ powered by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo and promised to link them to other state actors who will be of much assistance to the programme.
He said that the workers ‘need to know their numbers’ so as to stay active while doing their works.
“This will avert sudden heart failures and health risks which can lead to sudden collapse of persons as being recorded in some public places and functions where celebrants or guests suddenly lost control and never made it up again.
“People need to know the rate of their heartbeat, blood sugar level, cholesterol level and health ground so that the necessary treatments will be followed immediately to save sudden deaths.’’
The Chairman of the committee, Dr. Odogwu said that the body had come to tap from the wealth of experience of the Ministry through its commissioner for the May Day free medical outreach for the workers.
“I am glad we were well received by the ministry and we are using this avenue to call on the state work force to come out in their numbers to make good use of this free outreach on May 1, 2025 workers Day celebration,’’ Dr. Odogwu said.
