Motorcyclists in Nanka Community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have been charged to always observe all rules and regulations guiding road use especially in this festive month that usually witnesses high rate of vehicular movements.
This was contained in the lecture delivered by the Anambra State, Public Education Officer Federal Road Safety Corps, Margaret Onabe on Saturday, 3rd of December 2022 on the occasion of the maiden edition of the NANKA ROAD SAFETY SUMMIT 2022 as organized by Architect Emeka Uganeme.
Onabe frowned at some sitting positions of some okada riders, asking them to avoid standing while riding, avoid maneuvering, squeezing between vehicles, use trafficators and keep within speed limits.
The occasion was officially declared open by the Commissioner for Transport, Anambra State, Mrs Patricia Igwebuike , with an opening prayer by the chairman Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria (MUTUN) Nanka, Pastor Chukwuka Oguadimma.
The Commissioner who said that she came to support Architect Emeka Uganeme on the good work he has started in Nanka and in Anambra State, with 200 reflective jackets ,which will go a long way to help humanity survive.
She said that Anambra State Government has resolved to differentiate the colours of commercial motorcycles from that of the private motorcycles, as all commercial motorcycles will be branded with Anambra colour.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion were the Nanka patriotic Union, women group, the famous opuru iche dance group of Nanka, Nanka youth President, Hon Ken Okoli, Great Minds Committee of Nanka, among others
