The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Anambra State Command, has sealed two properties in the state allegedly used for the sexual exploitation of underage girls.
The properties were sealed on July 20, 2026, following an interim attachment order granted by the Federal High Court, Awka Judicial Division.
According to NAPTIP, the action stemmed from the arrest of a suspect on March 2, 2026, and the rescue of several female victims aged between 15 and 20 years.
The agency said the suspect was arraigned before the Federal High Court, Awka, on May 21, 2026, on multiple charges bordering on the procurement and recruitment of persons under the age of 18 for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
NAPTIP disclosed that the court granted the interim attachment order on June 26, 2026, following a Motion Ex-Parte filed in March, authorising the temporary seizure of the properties pending the determination of the criminal case.
It alleged that the affected buildings were being used as brothels for the exploitation of underage persons.
The enforcement operation was carried out by the Anambra State Command of NAPTIP in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and members of the host community.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Anambra State Task Force on Human Trafficking and other partners to combat human trafficking and related offences across the state.
NAPTIP said it would continue to ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice while intensifying efforts to rid Anambra State of human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of vulnerable persons.
