Three suspects have been arrested with 137.8 kilograms of cocaine at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) , Lagos by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
In a press briefing on Tuesday , NDLEA airport Commander , Garba Ahmadu said that male suspects were arrested Nat MMIA , Lagos on January 6 and 8, 2021 with the illegal drugs stashed inside hair relaxers, embroidery tailoring material and shirts packaged with carbon and other oily substances to avoid being detected by the scanning machines.
Two of the suspects whose names were given as Okeke Uchenna, Azubuike Jeremiah Emeka , were arrested by officials of the agency during inward clearance of. Ethiopian airlines from Brazil while And Musa a freight forwarder was nabbed while trying to export cocaine to India through the cargo warehouse of the Skyway Aviation Handling Company in Lagos.
Garba Ahmadu stated that the suspects were arrested with 13kg, 127kg and 7.8kg of cocaine.
It was revealed that Okeke Uchenna, was a second time offender and a fugitive wanted by the Federal High Court Lagos for jumping bail for a drug related offence in 2014.
Garba hailed the seizures as being significant because of the quantity of the drugs involved.
