Pope Francis’s funeral has been scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. in front of St. Peter’s Basilica, Vatican City. The 88-year-old Argentine pontiff died Monday from a stroke, just weeks after battling pneumonia.
World leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky, are expected to attend the service.
Francis, known for his reforms and humility, chose to be buried at Rome’s Santa Maria Maggiore basilica—making him the first pope in over a century to be laid to rest outside the Vatican.
His body lies in state from Wednesday as tributes pour in globally.
