The National Examination Council, NECO, has released the results of the 2025 Senior Secondary School Examination.
Registrar of the Council, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, announced in Minna yesterday that 818,492 candidates — representing 60.26 percent — recorded five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.
In total, 1,144,496 students secured five credits and above, with or without English and Mathematics.
A breakdown shows that 1,367,310 candidates sat for the exam nationwide, made up of 680,292 males and 678,047 females.
The results were released 54 days after the last paper.
Professor Wushishi also revealed that 38 schools across 13 states were involved in mass cheating, while 3,878 candidates were caught in malpractice — a sharp drop from over ten thousand last year.
In addition, nine supervisors in Rivers, Niger, the FCT, Kano, and Osun States were indicted for poor supervision and aiding malpractice. They have been recommended for blacklisting.
Meanwhile, NECO confirmed that a communal clash in Adamawa State disrupted exams in eight schools, affecting 559 students across 29 papers. Arrangements are being made to reconduct the exams for the affected schools.
