Niger Delta groups under the auspices of We Are Stronger Together Movement (WASTM) have dismissed the ongoing calls for protests and the removal of the current leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The stakeholders in a statement signed by Joshua Benjamin JP noted that it was disheartening that, rather than support NDDC’s developmental policies and the open-door engagements demonstrated by its leadership, certain individuals and groups continued to engage in smear campaigns.
He further emphasized that deliberations aimed at regional development must be governed by the principle of fairness, transparency, and due process, ensuring the right to fair hearing for all parties.
Also, the President of League of Niger Delta Professionals (LNDP), Opubo Ibieneye, has lamented that the constant calls for protests and sack of the MD/CEO of NDDC and the Board jeopardized the significant achievements of the current leadership.
He urged all stakeholders in the Niger Delta to abandon divisive and counterproductive tactics in favor of open dialogue, collaboration, and unity.
