Nigeria’s delegation to the G77+China Summit, led by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, has achieved a significant milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cuba. This MoU strengthens collaboration in Innovation, Science, and Technology between the two nations.
The signing ceremony occurred at Hotel Palco La Habana during the G77+China Summit, marking a high point in Nigeria’s participation.
Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science & Technology, signed on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Minister Nnaji commended President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership, which paved the way for the agreement. He emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to making the most of this bilateral agreement, with swift implementation and the establishment of necessary mechanisms for action.
Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s focus on South-South cooperation, promoting sustainable development in the global South. The agreement will deepen collaboration in research and development, human resource development, and various technology-related areas.
The areas of cooperation covered in the agreement encompass biotechnology, scientific investigation, innovation, technological development, human resource development, specialist exchange in Science and Technology, and technology transfer for development.
The historic event was witnessed by Amb. Adamu Lamuwa, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Cuba, Amb. Ben Okoyen, and other senior government officials, reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing collaboration in the field of Innovation, Science, and Technology with Cuba.
