The Nigerian Air Force is intensifying efforts to combat oil theft in the South-South region.
In a recent operation near the Imo River, Air Force strikes destroyed 13 illegal oil refining sites.
In a statement made available tomorrow newsmen, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations, stated that the perpetrators have been exploiting the difficult terrain to conduct their activities.
He said that despite this, the Air Force personnel, as part of Operation Delta Safe, effectively neutralized these sites, including overhead tanks and gallons filled with illegally refined products.
In another operation, a truck and four canoes involved in illegal oil activities were also destroyed.
He said that the Air Force remains committed to curbing these illegal practices across the Niger Delta.
