Petrol loading has officially begun at the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. On Sunday, a fleet of trucks, owned by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), began lifting Premium Motor Spirit, or petrol, from the facility.
The refinery, valued at $20 billion, has the capacity to load 86 trucks at once, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s energy sector. The NNPC announced that over 100 trucks were mobilized for the process, with hundreds more en route.
This development ends weeks of speculation over the quality of the refinery’s products. However, the price at which the refinery will sell petrol remains undecided, raising concerns about potential monopolies in the market.
