At the Dele Momodu Leadership Lecture in Ibadan, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, made passionate appeals for urgent action to end abject poverty in Africa.

Obasanjo emphasized that if China could lift 700 million out of poverty, Nigeria has no excuse. He stressed the importance of security, education, and leadership as tools to eradicate hunger and poverty.

The Ooni of Ife echoed the call, urging citizens to embrace patriotism in everyday life, from the food they consume to the clothes they wear

Governor Adeleke also weighed in, criticizing the disconnect between political leaders and the people. He emphasized his administration’s development strides in Osun and called for governance rooted in the fear of God.

Together, the leaders called for unity, discipline, and a shift in values to lift millions out of poverty and reposition Africa for global respect.
