A former Managing Director of Transport Company of Anambra State, TRACAS, Ogbuehi Frank Igwe, has advised federal and state governments across the federation to re-open schools but to ensure that they take precautionary measures such as operating morning and afternoon sessions to avoid overcrowding of students and pupils.
Ogbuehi Igwe in an interview with the press at Uli, was of the opinion that operating morning and afternoon sessions will ensure that social distancing guideline against the covid-19 pandemic is observed
He described governments policy on E- learning as a well thought out idea that needs to be modified given the inability of some parents and guardians to access the internet, as well as the fact that some of the children are not computer literate.
According to him, since government has relaxed its stand on church activities and burials, schools should equally reopen for effective teaching and learning.
On the alleged importation of Almajiris into the Southern part of Nigeria at this covid-19 era, Ogbuehi Igwe who is a community leader in Uli and the Managing Director, OnowuUli Resources limited in charge of Airtel in Anambra State, urged South East Governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo to rise to the occasion of protecting the Igbo territory.
According to him, community policing and institution of state police remain the best option to ensure safety and protection of the people of the South East from such invasion.
He regretted that despite the curfew imposed by the federal government to avert the spread of covid-19, the reports of the alleged suspicious movements of some youths into the southern part of the country, engineered and sponsored by some dubious and unscrupulous elements, have gone viral in the social media, highlighting the risks the people are exposed to.
The community leader expressed dismay that the issue of security is treated with levity in the country, while people are being seen as sacred cows.
In a related development, a legal expert from Umuawulu, Barrister Chike Oranye, also frowned at the alleged importation of suspicious youths into the southern part of the country and expects all governors of the South-East extraction, their South-South and South-West brothers, the Ohanaeze ndigbo and all concerned Nigerians to rise to the challenge of security threats.
