On Foreign News,
Four Italian peacekeepers were injured in southern Lebanon on Friday following rocket fire, likely from Hezbollah, the UN peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) and Italy confirmed.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the attack, urging all parties to ensure the safety of UNIFIL soldiers. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani suggested Hezbollah’s involvement, citing two rockets fired at the UNIFIL headquarters in Shamaa, close to the Israeli border.
The peacekeepers, injured by shattered glass, are being treated for non-life-threatening wounds.
This marks the third such attack in a week.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility, stating the rockets targeted Israeli troops in the area. Italy’s Defence Minister, Guido Crosetto, called the attacks “intolerable” and stressed the need for peacekeepers to remain neutral despite escalating violence in the region.
