On Foreign News

Hurricane Milton’s death toll has risen to 16, as Florida residents begin rebuilding their lives.

Nearly 2.5 million households remain without power, with parts of the state still flooded. Milton, a Category 3 storm, struck late Wednesday, leaving devastation across communities already reeling from Hurricane Helene two weeks ago.

On Siesta Key, near Sarasota, the landscape is littered with debris.

Tornadoes caused many of the fatalities, including four deaths in Fort Pierce. Officials confirm casualties across several counties, but the feared catastrophic destruction was avoided.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed relief, noting the state dodged a worst-case scenario.

However, cleanup and search efforts are ongoing, with rescue operations underway.

The Coast Guard recently saved a boat captain who survived by clinging to a cooler.
