Russia has dismissed the possibility of an immediate meeting between President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, despite U.S. mediation efforts.
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told NBC that “no meeting is planned,” insisting an agenda was “not ready at all.”
His comments followed U.S. President Donald Trump’s suggestion earlier this week that both men had agreed to talks.
Trump later likened the pair to “oil and vinegar,” saying they “don’t get along too well.”
In Kyiv, Zelensky denied any agreement with Moscow, accusing Russia of stalling while pressing its offensive.
NATO chief Mark Rutte, visiting Kyiv, stressed the need for firm security guarantees to prevent further Russian aggression.
