The Nigeria Football Federation has responded to criticism over the funerals of late Super Eagles icons Christian Chukwu and Peter Rufai.

Former defender Taribo West had accused the NFF and Lagos State Government of abandoning Rufai’s family during his burial. But in a statement, the federation insisted it provided financial support to both families.

The NFF said its officials were present at the funerals, standing in solidarity with the fallen heroes.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to honouring their legacy.

Rufai, fondly called Dodo Mayana, was Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 1994 Nations Cup and the country’s debut FIFA World Cup.
