Russian and Ukrainian officials are meeting today in Istanbul for a fresh round of peace talks aimed at ending Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II.
The meeting follows Ukraine’s dramatic strike on Russian airbases, damaging over 40 strategic bombers. This marks the first direct negotiations since early in the war, pushed by US President Donald Trump.
Ukraine demands an immediate ceasefire, prisoner release, and return of abducted children. However, Moscow insists on addressing the “root causes,” including NATO restrictions and territorial concessions.
Talks are being held at the Ciragan Palace, with Western diplomats observing closely. Tensions remain high, and hopes for a truce remain uncertain.
