Nigeria’s Junior D’Tigress secured a hard-fought 71-67 victory over Uganda on Friday, advancing to the final of the FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket 2024 in Pretoria, South Africa.
With this win, Nigeria has also qualified for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025 in Czechia. Earlier in the day, Mali cruised past Cameroon 103-45 to book their spot in the final.
Nigeria, led by coach Juliana Ojoshogu Negedu, gained sweet revenge over Uganda, who had defeated them in the group stage. The D’Tigress will now face Mali in the final on Saturday, seeking to avenge Nigeria’s men’s team loss to Mali in the quarterfinals.
