The Petroleum Equalization Fund (PEF) has donated vehicles to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

In a simple ceremony in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, the organisation handed Hilux cars to the Borno and Yobe commands of the NSCDC, expressing hope that the vehicles would go far enabling the NSCDC to carry out their mandate in the insurgency troubled states.

The vehicles which were procured in collaboration with Presidential Committee on North-East Initiative, were given out by officials of Relia Build Ltd which consults for PEF in the North East subregion as project managers.

Resident Project Manager of Relia Build, Arc Oladimeji Adebija, while handing over the keys of the vehicles to representatives of the Borno and Yobe commands of the NSCDC, said the donations were part of interventions in the Northeast.

He said that all the people ravaged by the Boko Haram insurgency need the security provided by the NSCDC and sister agencies and these vehicles will come handy for the benefitting agency.

He stated that vehicles had been given out in the past but not to the NSCDC in either Borno or Yobe.

According to report, Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, in that order of severity and frequency of attack, are the three states most troubled by Boko Haram insurgents.

The report also stated that although Boko Haram attacks occur almost daily in Borno, their activities are bad enough for Yobe and Adamawa states.
