On Sports News,
Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is set to miss a few matches after sustaining a thigh muscle injury during international duty with Nigeria.
Coach Xabi Alonso confirmed Boniface will not feature in Saturday’s match against Heidenheim or the upcoming Champions League clash with Salzburg.
While Nigerian media speculated that Boniface could miss the rest of 2024, Alonso remained optimistic, stating it wouldn’t be a lengthy absence, with a return likely before the year ends.
In Boniface’s absence, forward Patrik Schick is expected to step in. Leverkusen, currently fourth in the Bundesliga and trailing Bayern Munich by nine points, has struggled this season, dropping 13 points already.
Boniface has been a key player, leading the team with six goals and one assist in 10 league appearances.
