The number of fresh registrants are online since the Independent National Electoral Commission commenced the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration has hit 2,215,832. Barrister Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee made the disclosure, on Monday in a press statement.
Checks by newsmen revealed that Osun State is expected to hold a fresh governorship election next year topped the chart with a total figure of 365,412, followed by the south-south state of Edo with 197, 214, with another south-south state, Bayelsa in the third position on the chart.
The North West state of Kano has a total figure of 89,253 on the online registration chart. Lagos State has 83,290.
Another south-west state of Ekiti expected to witness governorship election next year has a total figure of 42,365 as of Monday, 23rd August 2021.
Anambra State where the electoral umpire has fixed another off-season election for November 6 has 114,100 as online registrants.
Further investigation revealed that youths in the country is leading the chart with 1,877,552 prospective voters with those in the middle-aged bracket having 686, 583 trailed by the elderly with a figure of 284,389.
