A leading aspirant in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, recently joined the traditional ruler of Ojoto Kingdom, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, to flag-off, as well as commission five roads in the community.
Mr Ozigbo, was the Special Guest of Honour during the event which took place on Saturday, February 27, 2021.
The roads which were flagged off are Barrister Ernest Ositadinma Obunadike Road, Jamike Okigbo Road and Engr Goddy Chidozie Road.
Others are the Chike Chidozie (Owulu) Road which was commissioned and the Afro-Umunafor-Ekeojor Road, to be constructed by the Progressive Union of Ojoto (PUO).
Addressing the mammoth crowd that came to witness the event, Mr Ozigbo congratulated the people of Ojoto on the landmark projects.
He asserted that such development is what progressive communities are known for.
He said “I am immensely impressed with the people of Ojoto who have gone ahead to seek ways to improve the lot of their people”.
“In my quest for a better Anambra, I will be engaging and partnering progressive communities like Ojoto who have taken the initiative to execute such groundbreaking projects without waiting for government.
“It is my prayer that this would be the first among many projects that I would be commissioning in Ojoto,” the respected business mogul added.
Mr Ozigbo and his entourage had earlier paid a visited to the Igwe Mbamalu, in his Palace where he was warmly received.
Speaking to journalists after the event, Ozigbo expressed delight with the people of Ojoto, stating that this was not the first time he was seeing private individuals take on such public projects, but observed that what he saw in Ojoto was exceptional.
“This is the first time I have witnessed this number of public facilities being developed at the same time with this level of efficiency.
”The community spirit among the Ojoto people is exceptional. They should be emulated,” the prominent philanthropist remarked excitedly.
Mr Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp, commended Barrister Ernest Ositadinma Obunadike, Chief Jamike Okigbo Road, Engineer Goddy Chidozie, Chief Chike Chidozie, Chief Kennedy Okonkwo and the Progressive Union of Ojoto for their efforts.
Ozigbo was accompanied by several members of his Solidarity organization including Right Honourable Eucharia Azodo, a former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and a two-time member of the Federal House of Representatives; Sir Tim Egboka, a former member of the Anambra State House of Assembly; Chief Ikechukwu Akaeze, and a former Chairman of the PDP in Dunukofia Local Government Area.
Others are Chief Jude Ochili (Ikemba Ojoto), Dr. Marcel Mbamalu, Sir Izuchukwu Oraelosi, the General Manager of the Valentine Chineto Ozigbo Foundation; Chief Uche Maduekwe, VCO Frontliner in Idemili South, Mrs Cordelia Ibah, VCO Woman Frontliner in Idemili South, Comrade Innocent Ugwo, the leaders of the VCO Youth Movement, and several others.
