A PDP governorship aspirant in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has stressed the need to educate the people, especially drivers of all kinds of vehicles, on the need to adopt safety measures in petrol stations and while on the road.

Mr Ozigbo stated this when he visited the scene of the tanker fire incident in Nnewi.

He thanked God that no life was lost and that no one was injured in the unfortunate incident, but stressed that it was important that lessons were learnt from the incident.

According to eye-witness accounts, the fire started when an unguarded plug in a motorcycle went close to the tanker which was offloading diesel at the filling station.

The guber aspirant observed that Tanker fire incidents have proven very deadly and costly in the past, and cautioned that enough have been lost to avoidable fire incidents.

He posited that the incidents could be prevented by taking necessary safety measures, adding that citizens must begin to adopt culture of safety.

He spoke on issues of wellness and healthy living, noting that knowledge empowers people to do better.
