On The Foreign Scene
On his first day back in office, President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders reshaping U.S. policies. Key actions included declaring a national emergency at the southern border and revoking birthright citizenship, which is likely to face legal challenges.
Trump also pardoned many involved in the January 6 Capitol riots, calling them “hostages.” He repealed diversity and LGBTQ equality initiatives, stating the government would recognize only two genders.
Additionally, he withdrew the U.S. from the Paris climate accord and ordered a pause on TikTok enforcement.
Other measures included expanding oil drilling and mandating federal employees return to the office full-time. Trump emphasized an “America First” approach, signaling a significant shift in immigration and foreign policy.
