The peace mission to Mali was embarked on by President Buhari and the former President Goodluck Jonathan who led the mission.
According to report, the political situation in Mali got worse when the court cancelled results of 31 parliamentary seats after the polls held recently, giving victory to some other contender, which instigated President Keita.
Following the development, crisis erupted which led to the killings of some protesters by security agents on July 10 and this made the situation to get out of control, until the intervention of ECOWAS.
A statement released by Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, in Abuja on Friday, said that former President Jonathan and leader of the opposition in Mali, Mahmoud Dicko briefed the ECOWAS leaders.
He further informed that the representatives of opposition alliance, M5, and Civil Society Organisations also addressed the ECOWAS leaders at the meeting.
African leaders met in Mali to procure permanent solution to the political crisis in the country.
