President Bola Tinubu has directed a significant reduction in Nigeria’s delegation to the upcoming 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York. The move, announced by his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, is part of efforts to cut costs and ensure that only officials with essential duties attend the event.
Gbajabiamila highlighted that the directive is aimed at preventing unnecessary expenses and ensuring that public resources are used efficiently.
He emphasized that this is a strict order from the President, advising those without official business at the UNGA to stay back.
According to him, the directive aligns with the administration’s broader goal of prudent governance and comes amidst ongoing efforts to streamline government functions.
The reduced delegation is expected to reflect the administration’s commitment to managing public funds responsibly.
