
Principal of Comprehensive Science And Technical College, Nawfia, Clarifies Issues On fire Incident
The Principal of Comprehensive Science And Technical College, Nawfia, Venerable Clement Mgbemena, has debunked media report that some buildings at the college were engulfed by fire.
In a press statement at Nawfia after taking Press men to the school farm, scene of the fire incident, Venerable Mgbemena reported that contrary to the media report, the fire started at about 10 o’clock in the morning on 26th January, as a result of bush burning.
According to the Principal, but for the intervention of the staff and students of the college, the fire would have wrecked more havoc.
He confirmed raising an alarm to the State Fire Service whose response came at half past three in the afternoon, and urged State government to take proactive measures and position more fire fighting vehicles to combat any fire outbreak this dry season.
Reporting no human casualties following the fire incident, Venerable Mgbemena noted that the college management took proactive steps at cutting bushes near the school farm land before the last Christmas break in case of any fire outbreak.
Aside this fire incident, the principal informed that there was another fire incident on the 4th of January last year, which destroyed the roof of the JSS One Technical Section building.
According to him, the school management has reported the incident to the state Universal Basic Education Management Board and the Anglican Communion Church authority for intervention and is still awaiting assistance.
