RoLAC Establishes Civil Society Organisation, Media Accountability and Anti-Corruption Network In Anambra

The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (RoLAC) has officially launched the Civil Society Organisation and Media Accountability and Anti-Corruption Network in Anambra State. The initiative aims to strengthen the fight against corruption by amplifying citizens’ voices, providing independent monitoring and oversight of government operations, as well as advocating policy reforms.
About RoLAC
The Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption Programme (RoLAC II) is funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IIDEA) in Nigeria.
Objective of the activity
The network seeks to:
- Amplify citizens’ voices and concerns on corruption.
- Provide independent monitoring and oversight of government operations.
- Advocate for policy reforms to reduce corruption.
- Enhance public awareness and education on anti-corruption issues.
Stakeholders’ Reactions
Mrs. Josephine Onah, RoLAC’s State Project Coordinator, emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency in governance. Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Head of Service, welcomed the initiative, stressing its complementary role in the government’s anti-corruption efforts.

Leadership Appointment
Ugochi Freeman, Executive Director of Creative Minds for Youth and Community Development, has been appointed Coordinator of the Network, with Alfred Ajayi of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria as Deputy Coordinator.
Communiqué
The event culminated in the issuance of a communiqué outlining the Network’s resolutions, including collaboration with government and non-governmental stakeholders to combat corruption.
