The Senate has taken decisive action in response to the escalating security challenges facing Nigeria.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that security chiefs have been summoned to an interactive session next week to address the surge in criminal activities across the nation.
The summoned service chiefs include Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, Chief of Army Staff Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Air Staff Hassan Abubakar, and Chief of Naval Staff Emmanuel Ogalla.
Mr. Akpabio emphasized the urgency of finding lasting solutions to issues such as kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, armed robbery, and other criminal acts.
Following the interactive session, the Senate will engage in discussions with President Bola Tinubu to ensure a comprehensive approach to tackling the security challenges.
In a solemn moment, the Senate observed a one-minute silence to honor the memory of those unjustly killed.
This decisive action by the upper chamber follows a motion presented by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, representing Ekiti Central.
