Senator Umeh Calls For Justice For Anambra Man Killed In Abuja By Police
The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has waded into the case of Late Mr. Onyebuchi Anene, an Anambra State man brutally murdered by a police officer, ASP Adamu Buba, in Abuja.
The committee’s intervention follows a petition by Senator Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, who sought justice for his slain constituent.
Recall that Senator Victor Umeh had on July 4, 2024 beseeched the Nigerian Senate for interventions into the matter which took place on May 22, 2024 involving his constituent, Mr Onyebuchi Anene, a native of Umuoramma Village, Awka, Anambra State and ASP Adamu Buba, a police officer under the F.C.T Command within Kubwa where the latter brutally murdered the former, an only son of his parents and father of two children, during an argument.
The case was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.
According to the committee chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, the police officer has confessed to the crime and prosecuted/detained ASP Adamu Buba.
The committee had assured that justice will be served and has initiated moves to negotiate proper compensation and reconciliation between the two parties.
Senator Umeh’s efforts in seeking justice for the deceased have been acknowledged by the committee, with Senator Imasuen praising his commitment to achieving justice for his constituent.
