The long wait for Senegal to be crowned football king of Africa is over as they took home, for the first time, the Africa Cup of Nations title following their 4-2 defeat of Egypt on penalties in the final at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde on Sunday.
The Teranga Lions had previously lost in the 2002 and 2019 finals. However, their hard work played out this time as they took the game to a full 120 minutes for the fourth successive time at this AFCON, in a shootout after a goalless stalemate.
