Seven killed, farmland destroyed in Niger tanker explosion

A tragic tanker explosion in Karamin Rami village, Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, has claimed seven lives and left one person injured. The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) confirmed the incident, which occurred on March 4.

According to NSEMA’s Director General, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Arah, the explosion happened when a tanker overturned on a bad road, spilling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) into a nearby stream. The fuel ignited after coming into contact with a water pump used by farmers, causing a fire that spread to farmlands.

The injured victim, Maimuna Isah, is receiving treatment. Authorities have urged caution and improved road conditions to prevent similar tragedies.
