Meanwhile, in Abuja, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi’ites, has accused the Nigeria Police of attacking their peaceful Arba’een Symbolic Trek in Wuse, leading to multiple casualties. The Arba’een walk commemorates the end of a 40-day mourning period for Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Shi’ite group claimed that several mourners were killed and injured during the police intervention. They stated that medical practitioners are treating the wounded, and further details will be provided later.
However, the FCT Police Command denied these allegations, accusing the Shi’ite members of launching an unprovoked attack on police personnel. According to the police, the clash resulted in the deaths of two officers, while three others are in critical condition.
