The president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa has stated the the week-long violence and looting that shook the country through the week were planned.
He made this known on Friday during a visit to KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province
Noting it was quite clear that the recent incidents of unrest and looting in the country were instigated and there were people who planned and coordinated it, Ramaphosa vowed that his government would hunt down those responsible; had in fact identified a good number of them, and would not allow anarchy and mayhem to just unfold in the country unhindered.
The South African government had said on Thursday that one of the suspected instigators had been arrested and 11 were under surveillance, also on Wednesday, the government called out the armed forces reserves to meet a new target of deploying 25,000 troops to control the situations.
Shopping malls and warehouses have been ransacked in KZN and Johannesburg, stoking fears of shortages and inflicting a devastating blow to an already battered economy.
Around 120 people have died, some shot and others killed in looting stampedes following protests triggered by the jailing of ex-president, Jacob Zuma, who was handed a 15-month jail term for snubbing a corruption investigation.
