The south-east chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) says it is not against the ban on open grazing of cattle in the southern part of the country.
On May 11, the southern governors, after a meeting in Delta state, had resolved to ban open grazing within the region.
While the governors have insisted that the decision was taken as a part of efforts to improve security in the region, mixed reactions have continued to trail the proposed ban.
Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, had weighed in on the matter, saying the southern governors’ proposed plan to enforce the ban on open grazing is of “questionable legality” and a show of power.
