Stranded Nigeria Scholars Seek Tinubu’s Intervention Over TETFund Sponsorship

kpakpandofm

Nigerian scholars currently on the sponsorship of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) abroad have accused the agency of omitting them in the disbursement of funds. The scholars, who are currently stranded due to the rising foreign exchange rate, claim that 45 percent of them were not captured for payment and most of them were shortchanged.

The scholars, through their chairman, Kamal Odunjo-Saka, appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and ensure that TETFund disburses their funds accordingly. They alleged that TETFund acted against President Tinubu’s directive to support all foreign Nigerian scholars affected by the exchange rate.

The scholars also claimed that they had written SOS letters to several authorities, including the Presidency, House of Senate, House of Representatives, Ministry of Education, and TETFund, but received no positive response.

The group is seeking President Tinubu’s urgent intervention to prevail on TETFund to disburse their withheld funds for survival.
