In a move to curb frequent industrial strikes, the Federal Government has approved the National Industrial Relations Policy, NIRP 2025. Minister of Information Mohammed Idris says the policy aims to promote workplace harmony and align with global labour standards.

This comes as the government withdraws the controversial circular that sparked the nurses’ strike. However, the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives insists the strike continues until part of their demands are met, including improved allowances and recruitment.

Union leader Morakinyo Rilwan says verbal promises aren’t enough they want signed commitments.

Meanwhile, labour leaders from NLC and TUC have vowed to resist attempts to divide them, reaffirming unity in the fight for workers’ welfare.
