Teachers in Anambra state, under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) have expressed their gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano . They commended him for his administration’s improved package for teachers in the state , not withstanding the economic downturn , associated with the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.
While marking this year’s World Teachers Day at the NUT Conference Hall Awka, the state Chairman of the union, Mrs Chibueze Nonye observed that the administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers in the state had contributed to quality service delivery.

She called out poor infrastructure and inadequate man power in public schools, non payment of primary schools teachers who benefitted from the extension of service years, non involvement of NUT in all matters concerning teachers in the state , especially with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic challenges.
It will be recalled that the World Teachers Day , which had this year’s Theme as Teachers: Leading in Crisis: Reimagining the Future is an annual celebration held every 5th of October
