President Bola Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi).
The initiative aims to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal by promoting cleaner, cheaper energy alternatives for Nigerians. As head of the PCNGi, Ahmed will oversee its operations as part of the administration’s broader palliative measures.

A 45-year-old lawyer and policy expert, Ahmed is a graduate of the University of Abuja and holds a Master’s degree in international relations from Webster University in the U.S.
He previously served as a senior special assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the national social investment programme.
