
President Bola Tinubu has joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the passing of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha, the legendary Igbo folklorist, songwriter, and musician.
Mike Ejeagha passed on on Friday, 6th June, 2025, at the age of 95.
President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the late cultural icon.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu reflected on Ejeagha’s remarkable contributions in the preservation of Igbo culture through his music and storytelling.
The President said, “May the spirit and values of Gentleman Mike Ejeagha’s music continue to remind us that music has the power to revive, heal, and redirect energy toward worthy causes that help build our nation”.
He also commended Enugu State Government, for honouring the music legend during his lifetime, and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
