Transport Commissioner Urges Tricycle Operators To Obey Traffic Rules

Tricycle Operators popularly known as “Keke Rriders” in Anambra State have been charged to always comply with traffic rules and regulations to ensure safety on roads.
Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, gave the charge while addressing Keke operators in her office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
The Commissioner disclosed that the Ministry plans to organise a training to educate them properly on traffic matters and the need for them to always be conscious of their safety and that of other road users.
She also informed that the Ministry would issue Rider’s permit to Keke operators and commercial motorcyclists, to help maintain orderliness in their Operations.
Mrs Igwebuike further intimated that government has made provision for their health insurance, and advised them to advantage of the opportunity.
The Transport Commissioner stressed the need for them to obtain their plate numbers from the Vehicle Inspection Office or Local Government to make sure that they obtain genuine numbers.
Some of the Keke operators, Messrs Kingsley Igwe and Emmanuel Okafor, commended
the efforts of the government and promised to be law abiding citizens. ( MOI)
