NDLEA Rages On With Their Onslaught Against Drug Traffickers

At the SAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja Lagos, agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized a sizable shipment of methamphetamine concealed in powdered custard containers and bound for London, United Kingdom.

The unlawful narcotics shipment, which weighed 30.10 kilograms and had a street value of N567 million, was found and taken by NDLEA agents on May 16 at the airport.

This was swiftly followed by several follow-up operations that ultimately resulted in the arrest of Charles Chinedu Ezeh, the drug lord responsible for the shipment, at the Sotel Suites in Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, on Thursday, May 18, as well as a freight agent, Nwobodo Chidiebere, and a female suspect, Chioma Lucy Akuta.

Femi Babafemi, director of media and advocacy said that Ezeh claims he is a businessman and deals in articles in Onitsha, Anambra State, but investigations show he lived in London with his wife and children until December 10, 2022, when he fled to Nigeria due to his involvement in a drug-related offense in the UK.

However, operatives were able to find his residence at No. 1 Hawawu Abikan Street, Lekki, on Friday, May 19, where a search was done and his travel and property records, among other things, were discovered. He claimed to have been living in hotels since his return to Nigeria in December.

Similarly, NDLEA agents in Adamawa detained Prince Ikechukwu Uzoma, 32, a renowned drug trafficker, on Monday, May 15, in the Mubi neighborhood of thewith 1kg of skunk.

Ikechukwu had twice been arrested in the past, and convicted for the same offence.
