Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has countered Former Minister of Aviation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode’s claim that he contributed to his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that Fani-Kayode had earlier officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in a surprise move that has generated a lot of reactions from political commentators – as he was a staunch critic of Buhari and the APC.
He had also in a statement shortly after, claimed glory for the defections of some big wigs, such as Governor Matawalle of Zamfara, Ben Ayade of Cross River and Governor David Umahi.
However, in a statement yesterday, Umahi noted that, although Fani Kayode is his good friend, his statement was an insult on his person and those of the other governors mentioned, and Fani Kayode had to withdraw the statement.
According to Umahi, Fani Kayode did not know when he moved, but incidentally visited him afterwards and they discussed, wherein he said he was also going to follow suit.
Speaking further, Umahi added that it was illogical that an individual will influence the move of an experienced Governor, and that one of the reasons he defected was to move the southeast to the centre of administration.
