Update On Nationwide Protests Shows That Children Joined Protests In Adamawa, Ogun Lament Hunger, Hardship Under The Present Administration
As the Nationwide Protests against hunger and economic hardship got to the 10th day that was to be the last day, It was gathered that children also joined the protest in some states. It was gathered that protesters including children, gathered at the Grade Interchange and Underpass to press home their demands.
The Protesters gathered in Adamawa State on Saturday for the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria and hunger protest, chanting “there’s hunger in the land, President Tinubu.”
The protesters included kids aged between 8 and 11, who categorically demanded the immediate return of subsidy on petroleum products, particularly Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The minors gathered at the Grade Interchange and Underpass to press home their demands.
Speaking to SaharaReporters in Hausa, eight-year old Mohammed said, “I had to join the protest because I am hungry. Cost of living has become unbearable in our country.
“The government must bring down the prices of food items like, rice, beans, yam and other staples.
“We, the underaged, are accordingly demanding the restoration of fuel subsidy; this is our stand and we are not backing down,” he stressed.
Similarly, Mubarak, 11, said hunger has become unbearably unacceptable. He therefore called on the president to “listen to the voice of the people and cut down the costs of goods and services in the country.”
It was also reported that a large number of concerned Nigerians and activists on Saturday morning joined the ongoing one-million-man March in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
This was stated in a video shared by Omoyele Sowore, human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener.
In the video, the protesters were seen chorusing “Solidarity forever, we always fight for our rights.”
“It’s not a bad idea if the giants of Africa has 24hours of uninterrupted supply,” one of their placards read.
It was also noted that Nigerians on Saturday hit the roads in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, for a one-million man march marking the 10th day of the nationwide protest against hunger, hardship and bad governance under President Bola Tinubu.
Protesting Nigerians on Saturday morning carried banners and placards in Abuja.
Some of the placards read, “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” “Nigerians are tired of bad leaders.”
