Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its security and economic problems despite the challenges facing the nation.
Osinbajo expressed his belief at the 61st Independence Anniversary interdenominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
The Vice President said that Nigeria has since become the most educated and entrepreneurial nation in Africa. 10 of the 36 states have larger economies than at least 15 major African countries. And as such, the country also has the most accomplished men and in the arts, sciences, sports, technology and commerce.
He decried the religious and ethnic conflicts, economic challenges, insurgency and banditry that has bedevilled the nation.
However, he said that the current trials facing the country cannot draw the curtain on its story for the vision is for an appointed time and given that the country is greater than the sum of its mistakes and past. He emphasized that the nation will surmount the current travails and emerge in victory.
Also at the event, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who delivered the sermon, said he remains an optimist about a better Nigeria despite the escalating security challenges.
He, therefore, urged all Nigerians to be hopeful and prayerful.
The event, which was equally used to conduct a special service for CAN’s 45th anniversary, was also attended by many dignitaries including federal cabinet ministers, leading clerics in the country and members of the diplomatic corps.
