Vice-President Kashim Shettima arrived in Asaba, Delta State, on Monday to officially receive Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shettima was welcomed at the Asaba International Airport by APC governors and top party officials, including APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu.
Governor Oborevwori had earlier announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on April 23.
A formal declaration was made today, with party leaders describing the move as being in the interest of Delta State’s development.
