
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that it will be a shocking declaration that the South will make concerning the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking at a reception organized in his honour by the Kalabari people at the Abalama School field in Asari Toru local government area on Saturday, where he was also conferred a traditional title of Se-Ibidokubo of Kalabari land by the Amanyanabo of Abonnema, King Gboko Desreal Bob-Manuel.
The governor said that no pressure will cause the Peoples Democratic Party to give the presidential ticket to someone who is only after the interest of a wealthy few, instead of the interest of all Nigerians.
He decried the fact that the rich keep getting richer while the poor keep getting poorer.
He also criticized Rivers politicians serving in the present President Buhari’s administration for their failure to bring home Federal Government projects to their home state.
Regarding the next governorship poll in the state, the governor said politicians must show the capacity to protect the interest of the state.
He blamed Kalabari people for their disunity while stressing that only united people could stand up to make demands.
Governor Wike said the completion of the Trans Kalabari road phase one project would be extended by two months owing to the loss of period when workmen were kidnapped on site.
