The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old lady, Ozioma Orakwe, for the suspected murder of her uncle, Martin Orakwe.
Ozioma was arrested following suspicion that her deceased uncle, who was said to have committed suicide may have been murdered. Photograph of late Mr. Orakwe’s dangling body tied to a rope by the neck had the previous day gone viral.
However, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, “Preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Anakwe had a cut on his head with marks of violence all over his body”. Additional information showed that before his death, he had some disagreement, with Ozioma which resulted in a fight.
The Statement said Police operatives have recovered the body of the deceased, while the suspect has also made a useful statement that is helping in the ongoing investigation after which the case shall be charged to court,” Ikenga said. The State Police Commissioner, Echeng Echeng, has, however, admonished citizens to always seek other means of settling differences rather than resorting to violent fighting.
