30 Passengers Burnt To Death in Fatal Auto Crash In Kaduna
At least 30 persons were feared burnt to death in road crash that occurred along the Zaria-Kano Expressway.
The Assistant Corps Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in charge of Zaria Zone, Abdurahman Yakasai, who confirmed the report, said that the accident was caused by speeding and dangerous overtaking.
According to the reports, the accident happened around 5.30pm on Thursday, at Hawan Mai Mashi in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State,
He also pointed out that the auto crash involved three vehicles, two Toyota 18-Seater buses and a Volkswagen Golf,
“Those that sustained injuries were rushed to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika Zaria by our men, while the remains of the deceased were also evacuated and deposited at the hospital morgue,” he said.
He added that the passengers were burnt beyond recognition, saying that the agency was making efforts to obtain the manifest and details of the victims of the crash.
The victims were hardly rescued due to the fact the vehicles involved in the crash went up in flames, making it difficult to rescue.
