The Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, His Lordship Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, in collaboration with the Help For All (HIFA) Initiative from Austria, has provided scholarships totaling over 10 million Naira to 85 indigent students in Anambra State.
The scholarship, presented at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral, Awka, covers tuition fees for students from various denominations.
Bishop Ezeokafor, represented by Reverend Father Maximus Okonkwo, encouraged the recipients to remain focused on their studies, emphasizing that education is the key to achieving their full potential.
The Director of JDPC, Awka Diocese, Reverend Father Levi Ukor, highlighted that the initiative, funded by retired teachers from Austria, has increased its financial support this year from 7 million Naira to over 10 million Naira due to the economic situation.
Reverend Father Ukor also noted that the program is not just about paying tuition fees but also includes medical bills and skill acquisition training for the destitute.
He emphasized the importance of using the funds appropriately and encouraged students to excel academically to continue benefiting from the scholarship.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Chioma Ibekwe and Uchechukwu Chiekezie, expressed their gratitude to Bishop Ezeokafor and promised to improve their academic performance.
